When she was little, my eldest daughter Esther used to dress up in white gowns and get on her inflatable bouncing horse, Rody, and hop/prance around our Finnish masonry stove, or outside around the house, yes, sometimes in snow, pretending to be Jadis, the White Witch of Narnia. Once I asked her what she liked about Jadis and she said she was the only female character from all the books we read that had real power.
